Auberge Saint-Pierre
Auberge Saint-Pierre is located on Mont-Saint-Michel. It has been classed as an historic monument for its decoration and exterior architecture, which means that all renovations have been done under the watchful eye of the architect of the department of historic monuments—in other words, exceptionally well. The Auberge Saint-Pierre is composed of three buildings; one side looks out over the main street that leads up to the abbey, and the other side has a view of the ramparts. A small interior patio lends an exceptional charm to this beautiful hotel, located on this world-renown and mythic site.

The first building, which dates from the 15th century, had become very damaged over the centuries and was completely renovated in 1985*, with the permission of the architect of the department of historic monuments, respecting the strict rules set down by Vauban. “Every time there is a doubt about a detail, one must go to Paris and consult the plans and diagrams at the Historic Monuments office, so that the restoration of the buildings strictly respects the original construction,” passionately explains Madame Gaulois, the Auberge Saint-Pierre’s current owner. The building has been in her family’s possession for four generations.
The beams, which are over 200 years old, were bought at Chateau de Bénouville, which unfortunately burned down. The windowpanes are assembled with lead mullions. Spending the night on the Mont-Saint-Michel is a privilege.

Special offers of the Hotel

Auberge Saint-Pierre has two out-buildings, former fishing cottages that date from the 17th century, called Les Logis du Chapeau Blanc. Located in tiny streets typical of Mont-Saint-Michel, they have also been classed as historic monuments and listed in the supplementary inventory. Completely redecorated in 2010, in the historical spirit of Mont-Saint-Michel, Les Logis du Chapeau Blanc are also well worth the visit. “Mont-Saint-Michel is a spirit, a lifestyle, something that you can never really let go of,” continues the owner, and its hard not to believe the truth of her words…

*The renovation of the Auberge Saint-Pierre received a first prize from the Vieilles Maisons Françaises, for the Manche region.
